L'actualité DVD du cinéma fantastique

Sortie le 19 septembre du film d'horreur culte JIGOKU (1960 Nobuo Nakagawa), chez l'éditeur américain Criterion.

"jigoku" qui signifie enfer...
d'ailleurs beaucoup de titres originaux de films japonais comportent ce mot sans rapport direct avec l'intrgue du film

va savoir pourquoi?

Ah ben là, je peux te dire que ça a un rapport direct avec l'histoire. Si tu n'as jamais entendu parlé de ce film taré, toute la seconde partie se passe justement dans les enfers, avec les scènes les plus barges que tu puisses imaginer...

N'y avait-il pas un film avec un Alexander Fu Sheng en blouson de cuir justement dans les enfers??

Si, c'est un Chang Cheh : une comédie musicale kung fu très bizarre période mid-70, avec une esthétique assez colorful, mais le nom m'échappe...

Un nouvel éditeur aux USA va rééditer prochainement tous les gros classiques de ce cinéma mexicain (genre The Brainiac, Witch's Mirror ...) en VOSTA et copies restaurées, directement d'après les masters d'origine, on attend ça avec impatience...

Des DVD qui normalement devrait etres en ma possesion d' ici trés peu de temps

Ce serait pas mal qu'en france, les éditeurs sortent des films de Nakagawa.

O.K., j'ai des news concernant les Bach Films mexicains, La Proie Du Vampire a été retirée provisoirement des bacs, suite à la découverte d'un défaut, ça explique pourquoi on ne trouve bien que 2 titres actuellement, mais le DVD manquant arrive d'ici quelques jours dans sa version corrigée.

Voilà, et surtout, je voulais vous dire que les copies sont magnifiques, ils sont allés directement chercher le matériel à la source, et c'est donc les mêmes copies que celles qui sortent aux USA chez Casa Negra (éditeur qui vient lui aussi de sortir 2 titres). A 9.99€ le DVD, ça ne vaut donc pas le coup de se priver.

Pour se faire une idée de ce qui vient par la suite, il y a des teasers sur chaque DVD, pour les 12 titres de la collection mexicaine.

Bon, on reparlera de tout ça tranquillement, dans la rubrique correspondante, après visionnage des films...

L'autre très bonne news du moment nous vient de chez Warner qui annonce pour Halloween un coffret zone 1 Hollywood’s Legends of Horror Collection (sortie le 3 octobre 2006). 3 DVD comprenant THE DEVIL DOLL, DOCTOR X, THE RETURN OF DOCTOR X, MAD LOVE, MARK OF THE VAMPIRE et THE MASK OF FU MANCHU. Ils sont tous inédits en DVD ! Pour ma part, c'est surtout le dernier titre, avec Karloff, que j'attend avec impatience, car j'apprécie particulièrement ce Fu Manchu, qui est bien gothique. Mais les 2 Tod Browning et le Mad Love devraient avoir du succès aussi...

Tous seront remasterisés bien sur, et les bonus inclueront les bandes annonces et des commentaires audios.

Le grand classique S.F. "Planète Interdite" va enfin avoir droit à son DVD édition spéciale, en zone 1 chez Warner, pour le mois de novembre.

Très très bon! Avec une Deborah Kerr viellissante et sublime dans un role a contre emploi! Déja passé au "cinéma de minuit "et a "cinéma de quartier"! Réalisé par jack Clayton surtout connu pour "Les chemins de la Hauteville" avec Simone Signoret! Le directeur de la photo, c'est Freddie francis qui devint ensuite réalisateur de très bon films d'horreur dans les 60's et 70's,pour la Hammer entre autres, d'ailleurs la photo est magnifique! Un des 2 enfants est joué par Martin Stephens que l'on retrouve dans "Le village des damnés"!

Another section of extras includes a trailer for Spy Smasher vs. the Purple Monster, 1962 home movies taken in California which include Forrest J. Ackerman and director Bert I. Gordon, home movies of Ackerman visiting Chicago (watch Forry tear up an issue of rival mag Horror Monsters in a humorously improvised bit), test footage from some of the monster and super-hero films, home movies of the 1964 New York’s World’s Fair, a recent appearance by Glut on Count Gore DeVol’s show, unedited behind-the-scenes footage from six of the short films, deleted scenes and interview footage that didn’t make it into the final cut of the documentary, an image gallery, a filmography of Glut’s amateur films, and a brief “shameless plugs” section.

Mouai, ben j'ai été bien déçu par les Don Glut finalement... J'en attendais visiblement trop, mais c'est tellement amateur et nullos, que ça en devient chiant très vite : le doc est sympa, mais les films...


Petite sortie Criterion pour janvier...

Ceux que j'ai vus c'est "the atomic submarine" une série B de 1959 en NB. Si je me rappelle bien, c'est l' équipage d'un sous marin qui va découvrir une soucoupe volante sous l'eau (et oui!) avec un craignos monster a l'intérieur. Sympa mais pas indispensable!

"Corridors of blood" il faudrai que je le revois, mais rien que pour Boris Karloff et Cristopher Lee (ds un tout petit role) c'est immanquable!

En ce qui me concerne, j'ai des souvenirs d'une VHS anglaise de First Man Into Space dans les années 90, pour un film vraiment très fauché. Je crois d'ailleurs que c'était déjà sorti à l'époque dans la même collection qu'Atomic Submarine.

Décidément, après l'étonnant Fiend Without Face, Criterion semble s'intéresser de très près aux vieux films de SF anglaise.

L'éditeur devrait aussi sortir courant 2007 une édition spéciale du très sympathique "Robinson Crusoe On Mars".
